LGBTQ+ healthcare and support
At Atma Health & Acupuncture, we are committed to providing care that is inclusive, person-centered, and grounded in respect. We recognize that LGBTQ+ individuals often navigate additional layers of complexity in healthcare. Whether that involves gender-affirming treatment, family or social stress, medical trauma, or simply the fatigue of not feeling fully seen or understood. Our clinic is a space where your identity is respected, your experience is honored, and your care is tailored to you.
For transgender and gender-diverse patients undergoing hormone therapy, acupuncture can support the body’s adaptation to hormonal shifts by helping regulate the nervous system, improve sleep, ease mood fluctuations, reduce headaches, and address musculoskeletal tension. Care is collaborative and designed to complement and not replace your medical treatment plan.
For patients who have undergone top surgery or other gender-affirming procedures, we also address post-surgical recovery and myofascial changes. Scar tissue and fascial restrictions can contribute to tension or pain in the chest, mid-back, shoulders, and neck. Through acupuncture and gentle manual therapies, we work to improve circulation, support tissue remodeling, reduce discomfort, and restore mobility with sensitivity and care.
Beyond the physical, we understand that LGBTQ+ health includes mental and emotional well-being. Many individuals face social isolation, discrimination, or chronic stress amplified by the broader political and cultural climate. These stressors can manifest in the body as tension, fatigue, sleep disturbance, anxiety, or pain. Acupuncture is a powerful tool for calming the nervous system and supporting resilience during times of uncertainty or strain.
We practice trauma-informed, nuanced care. We listen. We ask permission. We explain what we are doing. We move at your pace. Our goal is not only symptom relief, but helping you feel safe, supported, and respected in your body.
Healthcare should not require you to defend who you are. Our role is to provide steady, holistic support for your physical, emotional, and nervous system health so you can feel more grounded, more at ease, and more fully yourself.
